Who we are
LA BAULE, which began with the first World Investment Conference in 2002, offers a dynamic platform for joint consideration of issues relating to the attractiveness and competitiveness of Europe, contributing to the development of national and EU strategies for the implementation of the Lisbon agenda. The conference brings together all those concerned, including business leaders, academics and representatives of unions and civil society, as well as experts from regional and national development agencies and representatives of EU member states, the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The success of our first six conferences has established the event as an efficient forum for debate, with the participation of some 1,000 high-level international leaders and decision makers.
It draws support from a think tank dedicated to the proposal of practical solutions and concrete recommendations favouring efficient and assessable European policies for growth, jobs and added value.
Several of the think tank’s recommendations have been adopted by Community authorities, as illustrated by the central place of attractiveness in the New Lisbon Agenda.
The dynamics of the La Baule movement, the annual conference and the think tank are supported by the Europe+ Foundation. The foundation was set up by Ernst & Young and the PGA group to coordinate the actions and reinforce the network and the daily contacts to all those in the public and private sectors, including representatives of civil society, who share a commitment to a stronger, more cohesive and more prosperous Europe.
